Creative Writing Class

本課程為那些想提高自己的創作表達技巧的學生而設計，由導師以引導的方式進行授課，幫助「小作家」們發掘及磨煉他們的寫作天份，課程將會以一個符合實際的寫作要求，並以輕鬆自如的風格進行，鼓勵「小作家」們逐步達成核心思索寫作能力的目標，這將令他們的畢生受益無窮。

This class is designed to develop students’ creativity and expressive skills in a supportive manner. Lessons will help young writers discover and develop their talents. The class is intended to be relaxed and approachable so as to encourage students, who will develop valuable thinking and writing skills for school and beyond.

教授的文體包括小說、記敍敍敘敍文、散文、說明文及實用文。導師會在課堂中與學生討論、分享，並提供專業指導以助他們完成作品。小學以記敍敘文為主，若學生能力較高，將會教授其他文體。

Text-types covered include fiction, recount, essays, expression, and formal articles. Time is devoted to drafting compositions, which instructors provide feedback on, and there is a chance for sharing and discussion.  Primary school students will mainly write narratives.  If the students’ abilities are high, they will learn different text-types.

Through reading different text-types and analyzing writing techniques, children will be able to incorporate simple sentences into different forms of passages.  Contents will be designed depending on the learning abilities of the students.

To learn different formats of expression, for example, story, diary, poem, report, letter, etc. Students learn how to set the main idea and different techniques such as how to write introductions and conclusions, how to organize, different writing techniques, for example, views, describing with steps, similes, personification, metaphors, and  infusing inside with the outside, etc.

English Literature

掌握了閱讀技巧，就如同開啟了通往知識、體驗、機會的大門。然而學校內的文學教育方式往往流於刻板教條。文學帶給人的享受與趣味蕩然無存。

Equipped with the skill of reading, a world of learning, experience and opportunity is opened. However, in school, literature is approached as not a pastime activity, but in an academic manner. Pieces of fiction are analysed, critiqued and written-about in essay form.

這究竟是在幫助學生發掘文學珍寶，還是漸漸埋藏了他們對文學的熱情？我們的課程，正為改善這種情形而設計，協助學生在探討寫作技巧之外，更懂得抓住作品的關鍵部分，並主動發掘作品的深層含義。

簡介：本課程旨在協助學生建立自信及發展學生說英語的流暢度和準確度。3至6人的小組英語課程能因應學生的能力，給予恰當的輔導。說話(10%)及校本評核(25%)佔英文科總分的25%。因此，我們不能忽視說話技巧的重要。

Introduction:This course is designed to help students build confidence in the use of spoken English as well as to develop their fluency and accuracy of the language.

Small group teaching: Only 3 to 6 students will be able to enroll in each course so as to ensure optimum attention to specific needs of individuals.

Paper 4 Speaking 10% + SBA 15% = 25% of the whole score in the English Language Paper.  Do not neglect it!

Playwright Training Class in English

寫作工作坊內容：從學生的劇本，讓學生鑽研他們的作品，批判地分析他們的作品，並由其他角度思考自己的作品。

1. 話劇是由甚麼部分組成？
2. 明白構成一個好故事的重要元素。
3. 學習有效的腦震盪技巧。
4. 書寫一個能配合舞台運作的劇本。
5. 學習如何修改劇本，藉以迎合舞台的需要。話劇技巧：學生親身演繹自己的劇本，藉以了解自己的劇本在舞台上的可行程度。這些技術小組包含模擬表演，形體動作和對話活動，讓學生學習如何有效地表達感受、情感和意見，與此同時亦加強學生的創意和自信心。

To nurture and enhance student’s creativity through dramatic writing, which incorporates the skills of reading and writing, as well as using some popular drama-based training techniques. Students’ confidence in speaking and writing will also be developed through group activities and creative workshops.

*Writing workshops ~ By using one of their own narratives, students will be asked to delve deeper into their work, critically analyze their work and think about what they have written from another perspective. Contents to be covered: What constitutes dramatic writing? Understanding the different aspects of what constitutes a good story, acquisition of effective brainstorming techniques, writing an engaging narrative to be adapted for the stage, adapting a written narrative for the stage

*Dramatic techniques~Students dramatize a script and use drama-based techniques to decipher if their narratives are suitable for the stage. These techniques include group-work incorporating mime, movement and dialogue to effectively communicate feelings, emotions and ideas, while enhancing creativity and confidence.

The International Baccalaureate is studied by over 1 million students 3-18 years of age across many countries. The aim is to give students a broader understanding of the interactions between different school subjects and create greater open-mindedness. For English Language, students examine a variety of literary and non-literary text-types. Our preparation programme familiarizes students with various IB-approved texts, exploring the themes, ideas, writing techniques and messages; assigns students to compose passages and essays exploring major literary-related topics; then provides students with guidance and constructive feedback on their essay compositions.

GCSE/IGCSE English/English Literature

GCSE是英國專為14-16歲學生而設的評核，國際版本是IGCSE。此課程較IB容易，在中學GCSE是必修的科目，其中一科是英文。而事實上很多學校都需要學生選修英國文學。此課程適用於希望到英國留學的學生，包括完成中學教育的學生或希望升讀大學的學生。本預備課按照課程指引設計，在寫作方面，會為學生提供一系列的篇章，加強他們的寫作能力，並為他們的作品提供建議；在閱讀方面，會溫習大量詞彙，並講授閱讀策略和技巧。

The General Certificate of Secondary Education is awarded to students aged 14–16 in the UK. The international version of the GCSE is the IGCSE. The programme is seen as being comparatively easier than the IB. In secondary schools, GCSEs are compulsory in the core subjects, one of which is English, and in addition many schools also require that students take English Literature. This course of study would be useful for students planning to study in the UK, either to complete their secondary education or pursue university. Our course follows the published syllabus and requirements for the programme, introducing students to a range of text types for the writing paper and giving feedback on their compositions; while reviewing vocabulary and strategies for comprehension for the reading paper.

Flash Fiction Writing Class

本班注重訓練學生人物塑造、氣氛營造、情節舖墊等技巧，從而引導學生創作。創作微型小說，

並無公式。本班藉欣賞佳作，並討論同學習作，汲取佳作的養份，改進自己的作品。

This class emphasizes on characterizing, creating ambience and plot arrangements which leads to students creating their own masterpieces.   Indeed, flash fiction writing is not like other writing.  It does not possess any formulas.  In this class, it provides a platform for students to appreciate best writing and discuss each others’ work.  It acts as a bridge for students to learn from others’ masterpieces so as to improve their own output.

Chinese Literary Language

新高中文憑試中，至少會有一篇文言文閱讀理解，而學生往往對文言文感到陌生及束手無策。其實文言文並不是學生想像中那麼可怕，只要學得其法，打好基礎，便能好好應付大部分文言文篇章。本課程將針對考試常見的問題，教授文言語譯、一詞多義、常見通假字、常見虛詞等實用文言知識。

In the HKDSE, there will be at least one classical Chinese comprehension, but students can hardly manage it. This course is designed to teach classical Chinese systematically, including commonly-used vocabulary, special sentence structures, and analysis of classic passages. With the well-organized syllabus and plenty of practice, students’ performance will be enhanced.

Special Chinese Speaking Training Course for HKDSE

中學文憑試中國語文科卷四(說話能力)佔全科分數14%，評核模式為「小組討論」。本課程旨在幫助應試學生提升中文口語表達流暢度和精準度，以及切實地協助學生提高在口語交流方面的自信心。本課程以小組的形式，針對不同學生的語言基礎，開展有效的訓練，幫助學生順利通過中學文憑試中文口試環節，提升中文科成績。

Paper 4 of the HKDSE Chinese Examination scores 14% in total in group interaction. This curriculum aims at helping candidates to improve their fluency, precision and confidence. This class is conducted in small groups. It helps students pass the oral exam using their foundation knowledge based on a series of effective training exercises.

據2013年中學文憑試考試報告分析，中文課「口語溝通」環節出現的問題較大，如誤解題意、內容空洞、回應過於簡單等。本課程將針對這些問題，進行特別訓練。

Paper 5 of the Chinese Language examination is considered to be the most difficult task among all the papers. In addition, it is also the paper on which students score the lowest mark. This class will teach the format of essays, skills for taking notes and elaboration, in order to help students to have improvement in writing this paper.

珠心算班

Abacus Class

本課程目的是弘揚中華國粹，啟發兒童數學才華，發揮學生天賦潛能，增強他們的腦力智慧，讓學生通過珠心算的訓練課程，培育出理想和正確的價值觀。學生透過珠算的訓練後，便能掌控心算技巧，以達到數學基礎教育中(＋、－、×、÷)四則運算自如的目標。然而尤其重要的是啟迪兒童腦力智慧、加強記憶、鍛鍊意志、強化邏輯推理等。本課程與香港珠心算協會合辦。

The aim of the curriculum is to advocate Chinese national cultural heritage, stimulate children’s mathematical thinking, develop their capability and enhance their intellectual thinking skills.  It will help to foster correct values in their lives.  Through abacus training, children will be able to master mental calculation skills and mixed calculation (+,-,×,÷) operations.  Most important of all, it will stimulate students’ intelligence development, reinforce memory, increase their volition and strengthen their logical thinking skills.  This curriculum is organized with the Association of Professional Abacus Education (HK) Limited.

Mathematical Olympiad Class

『奧林匹克數學』有別於一般的基礎數學課，

它主要通過推理分析，將繁複的題目予以簡化及剖析，從而達到解決問題。學習奧數不僅能促進學童的智力發展，提高數學能力，培養學生的邏輯思考及推理分析能力，還能激發學生學習數學的興趣。

The Mathematical Olympiad Class is different from an ordinary mathematics class. It focuses on changing complicated questions into simple ones in order to solve questions faster and more efficiently.

本課程由淺入深，從易到難，著重思維的鍛鍊，幫助學童深入理解和鞏固數學的基礎知識，並能開拓思路、訓練思維、提高學童的分析和解決問題的能力。

The class will start from the simplest questions. It will focus on developing thinking skills and helping students to learn more about Mathematics.  It will be good training for their analytical and problem solving skills as well.

為了幫助學生準備物理考試，老師會按照相應的考試大綱與學生溫習。學生學習如何根據他們的觀察，識別事物的屬性、模式和變化，從而預測趨勢，審查證據，並運用邏輯推理得出正確的結論，以數學概念方式展示結果。導師將覆蓋所有主要的內容，包括力和運動、光、聲音、能量和磁力。學生將會學習分析問題和解決問題，操練過往試題和練習，使學生熟悉考試的格式和要求。

To prepare students for their examination in Physics, instructors will follow the corresponding examination syllabus. Students are expected to identify attributes, patterns and changes and predict trends based on their observations; examine evidence and apply logical reasoning to draw valid conclusions; present concepts mathematically. Instructors will cover all major areas of the curriculum, including force & motion; light & sound; energy and magnetism. Students will analyse and solve problems, complete past papers and exercises, and become familiarized with the format and expectations of the exams.  Past papers and exercises are provided.

Chemistry – IB / IGCSE / HKDSE

在化學考試中，導師將與學生重溫相應的考試大綱。學生將學習理解化學原理，術語和如何進行實驗、分析和解釋不同來源的數據，並得出相關結論；處理及詮釋化學數據，進行計算，應用化學知識來解釋所觀察到的問題，並學習在不熟悉的情況下解決這問題。在這個過程中，老師會測考學生的關鍵的知識是否足夠，學生將進一步學習相關的技巧，例如如何從特定的資料選擇和整理科學資訊，以一個合乎邏輯的方式表達出來；從驗證證據及論點的過程，作出合理的判斷。本班提供過往考試試題及練習給學生練習。

In the Chemistry exam, instructors will follow the corresponding examination syllabus to review with students.  Students will be expected to: show understanding of chemical principles, terminology and how to perform experiments; analyse and interpret data from various sources, and draw relevant conclusions; manipulate and translate chemical data and perform calculations; apply chemical knowledge to explain observations and solve problems which may involve unfamiliar situations. In the course, key knowledge will be reviewed, and students will further be taught skills such as how to select and organise scientific information from given sources and communicate it in a logical manner, as well as to make decisions based on the examination of evidence and arguments.  Past papers and exercises are provided.

修讀經濟學讓學生明白人類世界如何運用資源以提供個體和社會。此科目是香港中學文憑試中六人民文學科選修課程之一。本課程會加強學生以不同的形式來解釋經濟現象，並應用經濟學知識在不同的事情和問題上。除了運用經濟學概念和理論分析資料外，還會評價資料、論點、建議書和政策。此外，還會讓學生交流經濟學的思考和判斷，加強他們以清晰、具邏輯性和準確的模式表達觀點。

Economics helps students to understand the human world by enquiring into how resources are used to serve individuals and society. The subject is one of the six electives in the Humanities section of the HKDSE. This course will empower students with the skills to interpret economic information in different forms; apply economic knowledge to a variety of problems and issues; analyse information using economic concepts and theories; evaluate information, arguments, proposals and policies; communicate economic ideas and informed judgements in a clear, logical and appropriate form.
